this new skin would be made as non default only, since it is more of a prototype of a concept
sometime a custom skin only have a light texture that blends into EA/default skin when the color ramp is dragged to the right,
from that thought, I tried to make a 2 in one skin that would blend to gether into more unique look for different sims while using a same skin
I make a hairy skin on a freckled body and face and set it to light,
then I reduce the hair on some part, change the belly button, nipple, and moles and set it as dark, then I tried in game to play around with the color slider.
so I decide to publish it, to get input, and ideas to develop it further.

HOW to install:
follow the new way of installing mods,
1. download FrameworkSetup (http://chii.modthesims.info/FrameworkSetup.zip), and unzip in (Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\)
2. unzip my pack, then put the package file in (Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages)
3. delete cache files in (Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\)
4. close all your explorer windows (any windows involve The sims 3 contents)
5. fire up your game

I love the new detailed hands, nails and feet from GoS version. I really love the new face design of real 1, the eyelids, outer eye corner shades and the face shades, except the freckles on face. Actually I also don't like body hair on skin very much. I like the slight body hair of TSI version than real 1 and GoS version.

Your skins are beautiful, and i have been in love with them forever. Now i have so many to choose from. Your attention to detail is very refreshing. I really like the B.A.S skin, G.O.S and your latest two skins. I have been using V2R so now i am going to test out Real 1 as default and see which one i prefer. Skins shouldn't always be pretty, faces have lines, bags, spots, pores and you capture these little details that are often overlooked, to create fantastic and original skins. Your skins are unique. DeleteHi! I was looking for a skin fully compatible with Buhudain's Normal Map Default Replacement so I donwloaded your glam edition because I wanted it to be smooth. It's very well done and realistic but not as smooth as I expected, I mean, the face is ok but the body has a grainy texture in some places... Can it be because of my game or is actually like this?
ReplyDeleteThank you, my skin are not smooth, it has blemishes, pores, body hair and rough areas, I might try to make a smoother edition later on, but currently the smoothest body is either the new Cute edition, since I revised abdominal texture on both male and female.

DeleteReal 2 is much darker then Real 1. The color of facial freckles are blended in dark tone, and make them become real appearance. I like it.

ReplyDeleteCute has become my default and favorite skin now. I love the revised eyes and nostril shade in Cute. I also wrote some comparison of Cute, TSI, Glam and Real 1 in my blog (in Chinese though). Pretty well done!
I found there are 1~2 small dots on male body texture, located on back and arm. Not only on Cute, also GoS, Wild v2, real 1, real 2. Is that for some purpose?
Deletethose dots fades and change position depending on the color ramp? if that is what you mean it was just small moles or skin pigmentation problem, to make the skin looks more individual, also on the female too.

DeleteWell, for me it's good to preserve light body hair on hands and legs, to make them much more realistic. Males without those body hairs look a little..........hmmm... you know it. XD
And here's just a small opinion of Taiwan people using your skin, about the small dots. Actually the mole is not a big problem to me, but some people think the position of the mole is too easy to be observed and they don't like it.

DeleteNice edits. I do love the TSI skin, the noses look so cute. This and BAS skin are really nice with all the little details on the skin that makes it ideal for making celebs and other Sims. I swear it's like looking at an artist painting. You draw your skins so well.

DeleteI love your skins. I just wish the breasts had less shading underneath and more on top. When my sims wear some swim tops the shading underneath extends farther then the bikini top. And they also look flat chested even when giving them the biggest breasts because of no shading on the inside\top of the breast. I love all your detail to the skins, your sims love wonderful naked. Are your other skins showing up. Weird. I am using version 1.39 and CmarNYC tonal picker mod and Nraas mod.
DeleteThe first time I had the game with the patches up to 1.39, I did. (Which was where it wasn't working.) After the fresh install with only Navetsea's installed, they do. So I guess there was a conflict that I was never able to figure out.
DeleteTho, I have an unrelated question.... What do the non-default skin mods do?
Pete, the non-default skin mod adds extra space in your skin picker window, so that all your non-def. skins show up in CAS as the window enlarges. There is a limit though, as how many non-defaults you may have. I am patched to 1.39 and I have all of Navetsea skins as non defaults and are currently being used in all the sims I create and I have not had an issue. What is exactly the problem you are having with the skins? not being able to use them or not showing as a choice in CAS? If the first, you have a mod that is giving you problems, if the second, you need to expand the skin picker window using a mod.

Here I tried to explain the differences between the two
Deletenon default won't be shared by all townies sims but only those you manually set to use that particular skin in CAS.
non default won't replace each other, you can have many of non default skins without the need to give up other skin.
default is the very opposite of all those points
you can only have 1 default skin (so you have to choose), you have to move out/ delete the previous default skin from your mod folder the moment you want to try new default, otherwise they would be clashing in game

DeleteYou are most welcomed! Actually, all my non default skins are kept as dbc files in one file using s3pe and since you have gone through the task of nicely labeling them I have no problems. My only problem with your skins at the time of putting together a sim is in the way of making up my mind to which one to use. I like them all, I used the busty last night and updated myself sim and looks great, I like the abs; my male sims look like they go to the gym 24/7; that is one of the reasons I have kept peggy's as a default through all these years, I'm a sucker for muscles! Yours are a happy medium and I am amazed with the detailing. If you ever make a muscular one I am sure I'll flip for it! I do love your work. And as answer to Pete; the mod that sackgirl suggested is the one I use, clear your caches and go through your mods, specially any mod that may change lighting conditions, also take a look as skins that use to get to be a part of CAS due to downloaded sims with custom color ramps! There are very good tutorials at MTS on how to clean your My documents files of unwanted CC; and always backup your files before doing any changes, it will save you time and heartaches later.

DeleteThe dbc method is simply combining a number of package files into one dbc, file or cache file that goes into the mod folder. It takes less space and you can always add to it at a later time. You do it using s3pe. I used the tutorial provided at MTS to prevent lag issues at that time and have been using it since, without any problems.

They really look like real lips(that must sound really silly to you) but i think you know what i mean, the coloring and the texture spot on. DeleteWhat programs do you use to edit the skin? I mean the way the navel, the abdominal veins and put in the body and in the hand.
ReplyDeleteI use layer effect like inner glow or inverted outer glow to make creases, and veins, I use photoshop.

Deletewell, you should start somewhere, first get Cmar Skininator, S3PE, and Nvidia DDS plugin for photoshop, or something similar if you use GIMP
DeleteAlso get all the reference textures from Cmar Skininator page, open the texture, body and face in photoshop, and do something with it, with shading here and there, use different brushes, skin brushes, stain brushes, grunge brushes, small brushes, and experiment, then you save it back in DXT3 dds format,
make a project in skininator, fill in each texture category you want to replace (otherwise leave it blank), make a color ramp or use standard ramp, save it as default or non default,
open it in S3pe, select all entries, right click select compress, then save.
done :D
I love your new default Sexy skin but does it extend to each age group or only adults? If it's only for adults, could you make it for all age stages. I absolutely adore it but I want every sim look good. Amazing work, by the way. :)

ReplyDeleteyes if you use non default skin, you can have as many as you want, you can only have one default set that automatically applied to game created townies, NPCs, and your neighbors, your own created sims can be assigned to a more unique non default skins.

Deletelook you can not stack several skins on a single sim, but you can assign different non default skins to each family member of the household you created for example.
DeleteSeveral of my skins has 2in1 property that was created by combining slightly different textures, one as the light texture and the other for the dark texture, so by playing around with color slider, the skin would blend, the differences are subtle but still visible.

Oh hot damn. That is one pretty skin. Seriously and your models look so real. I had to look twice. It's beautiful. So glad you mixed in Gos lips with it. This looks so detailed and beautiful. I think you have outdone yourself once again. Stop making me fall in love with pixels lol. Really nice addition to your other skins. Now all i have to do is choose which one is going to be my default. I like the subtle shading on the face and the new necks. The girl with black hair looks so real. She's gorgeous. DeleteI love GoS edition lips too, somehow it has the most ideal tone compared to my other releases, it also has a very effective color ramp that was also a product of a brief spontaneous edit, the day when I made GOS must be my lucky day.

ReplyDeletemy skins are for face+body, so they will change both face and body when used, some creator make only face replacement, especially in the early days of TS3, nowadays not so many anymore.
Deleteor do you mean if using different skins will make your sim looks different, yes, areas around mouth and eyes are very sensitive, so with a slightly different texture will show great differences in sim's face, and body too...

The soft face overlay is most on people whom are very young (teens). Do you understand what I mean?
I understood what you mean, currently I make my face skin unisex, to keep the non default set file under 10mb when extracted, however I take your suggestion when I make Real 3 edition.

non default won't be shared by all townies sims but only those you manually set to use that particular skin in CAS.
Deletenon default won't replace each other, you can have many of non default skins without the need to give up other skin.
default is the very opposite of all those points
you can only have 1 default skin (so you have to choose), you have to move out/ delete the previous default skin from your mod folder the moment you want to try new default, otherwise they would be clashing in game

DeleteThey are all in the game now. Thanks for another wonderful skin. I do have a request, though. Could it be feasable to make a male skin with a larger aureola for the nipples? With the amount of detailing you apply to your skins I think it would be a welcomed addition.

Hi technomatri, actually I released a new non default skin packed with a sim "Jesse riverstare" at my sim model download area labeled "BAD edition", it has somewhat a blend of hot edition and freckled BAS edition, I did not include much body hair in that skin though, I will develop it later for Hairy v3 in the weekend.
DeleteStephan, I downloaded the sim with the new BAD skin; however I can't seem to get the launcher to installed this particular sim and another one I downloaded somewhere else, hence I am not able to sample the new skin. Could you make it available as a sim file or make the skin available to use as stand alone? I am trying to solve the problem with the launcher in the mean time. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteThanks Stephan. It seems that my launcher borked after applying the V2 Store update, which was released to fix the contents of the game to display correctly the change of seasons. I reinstalled the base game; however Sims will not install through the launcher, objects are installing fine. I will try reinstalling Seasons again and see if I can fix this. EA already borked the launcher once with EP6 with a similar problem. Meanwhile, I am trying to find an user friendly alternative method of installing Sims3 packs.

DeleteThese are a nice addition Hairy v3 and Bad. I think i am liking the smirk of the lips for Bad edition. Very nice work. Added to my game and i will give them a go. You sure don't make it easy to stick with a default skin lol. Thank God they are all non default too. There is something very natural and realistic looking about the faces for the Bad edition.

I am downloading content nonstop, but I am going to try to limit myself to just a few creators. I am downloading all of your skins, and the only other skin I am going to use is a Russian one. I like to use that one to make naughty fairies. Hehehe! Thanks for all your great work. It is easy to make good sims using your awesome skins. :)

I noticed after I installed my first skin that the males didn't have their "manly" parts. Did I do something wrong? Or is the mesh a seperate dl? If so, where/how can I get it?

So impressed with the new skin Sweet. I love the improved lips and the whole face. Very realistic faces and i love the new color ramp. Your skins make it so easy to create realistic Sims that are beautiful and unique, just like your Sim models. I still can't get over how natural the shading is on the legs and the bodies. And the detail you put into your skins is very much appreciated :D I thought Hot was going to be my default forever but i am now using Sweet because combining the two skins really paid off. It's gorgeous.

DeleteI reduced the panda eyes effect of several previous skin in this edition since with different cheekbone setting the effect could be overwhelming for other people's sculpting style, since I make my own simmies with small set of eyes and pretty high cheekbone, I never have such problem, but once I tried to download a simmie, and I apply Hot edition skin on it, I almost got a heart attack.
Lol. It all depends on your style of making Sims. I make my Sims eyes quite small too, plus i am pretty crap when it comes to making eyes. Yeah the lower the cheekbones the more noticeable it was, not that i ever noticed it much. Good job on another beautiful skin.

Are there some other necessary steps?
you need to browse your mouse over the skin tone selector panel/window in CAS, then use your mouse scroll wheel, then you'll see some extra dots representing extra custom skins you have.

ReplyDeleteHairy edition V3 is also available as Default Replacement, but obviously you can only have one default replacement, so don't forget to take out previous default replacement you have installed before starting the game otherwise it will be messy.

ReplyDeleteI pack them with skininator tool by CmarNYC, and since it is still the latest version the last time I checked at MTS, so I guess the tool and these skins packed with it are still relevant to the latest patch. I have not installed supernatural though so I don't know how these looks on supernatural beings.

Hairy V3 is my current default skin, as for the skin that fit my current sim making style is hot edition to the latest Cstyle, but for your sim maybe Hairy v3 or Bad or Real 1/2 might suitable :)

ReplyDeleteOoh the new lips are so pretty, looks like lip balm. And the silkiness of the skin is gorgeous but it still looks very realistic. And the shading and slight highlight on the nose is really nice. I think this may become my new defaults. I can't get over how sexy the lips are. This certainly is model skin. It's very lush. I love it : )
ReplyDeleteoo thank you Sackgirl, yea that lip has been made with sweat and blood, since I don't have face UVmap, so I have to guess a lot through trials and errors loading up the game goes to CAS, getting out of the game, edit again, and so on, how I missed TS2 Bodyshop, since TS3 loading time is wasting my time... but finally after this I have a better base to work on since all my previous skin are all shy on upperlip area because I hadn't found the proper placement before, and got intimidated by how much effort it would take to find the right spot without a UVmap, but finally yesterday I just went on with it and quite happy with some important findings for future skins :)

If you're using Photoshop extended version, you can simply draw it on the 3D model.

With this mod you can make the skins four times more detailed as in the original files.
You can increase the size to 4096x4096 pixels, that would be strong and really a high quality.
AWT: "With such modification creators can make their textures with bigger sizes.
It affects Sim textures, meaning, everything related to CAS.
E.g: Face/Body Skins, Makeup, Tattoos and Clothes."

And they also blocked my newest pose pack because of "sexy" in my filename.....
I'm now using google drive to share my stuff instead. The only disadvantage is I can't see how many times it has been downloaded...
So that is what going on, strangely they didn't show as blocked to my self since I can download them just now, so I didn't aware how it affect other people... are we going backward as humanity, my internet blocked Sexysims2 site too since it has word sexy as well, who is the culprit behind all this evil scheme?
